Listen to: Theo Parrish - Train Wreck Mix

Ahead of Theo's performance tonight at Motion (Bristol), we are starting the day with his awesome Train Wrack Mix recorded for Red Bull Music Academy. The mix runs for two hours and really portraits all about Theo: Soul, Groove, Jazz, Funk, Disco and anything else you can mix in between. A good taster for what is meant to be an unforgettable night.

Listen & Pre-order "A Blink Of A Eye", Maurice Fulton's Syclops project

It has been one of those records that have been sounding around for a while. I heard Maurice himself play some of the tracks during his last visit to Bristol and they have also been part of the latest Theo Parrish DJ sets. Here is an example:

Listen to Awesome Tapes From Africa via RBMA

This is an awesome mix that portraits inspiring music from one of the most soulful places on Earth: Africa.

Excerpt from RBMA:

"Through his blog, Awesome Tape From Africa, Brian Shimkovitz proves the point over and over again. While researching the local music scene in Ghana on a Fulbright scholarship, Brian discovered the regional cassette tape merchants. Upon listening and realizing that the music was often unlike anything else going in the globe, he decided to put some of the songs up on a blog he eloquently dubbed Awesome Tapes From Africa. Thus began the eternal quest for strange, and quite often incredible African cassettes. Since then, the blog has developed a cult following, and Shimkovitz often finds himself DJing his collection at parties all over the globe. And he often DJ’s using only cassette decks. And to further his populist approach, every song he plays is available to download on the blog."

Listen to Dâm-Funk's private press cassette tape from 1994

Known as Los Angeles' "Ambassador of Boogie Funk," Dam-Funk represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere. Headquartered in the Leimert Park section of L.A., Dãm (pronounced: 'Dame' as in Damon) spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-'80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk.

As a DJ/selector, Dãm attracts the most discerning Boogie Funk afficionados within driving distance of his storied Monday-night Funkmosphere parties. But it's not just collectors at the bar toasting to the melodic sounds. Anyone who grooves to the likes of Slave, Aurra, early Prince, Prelude Records and the like, will get a dose of those groups' unknown contemporaries – more obscure but equally Funk-worthy.

*Warning: Contains Explicit Language*

Recorded in 1994 in my bedroom, this is: "Tranquil Funk"; which was a 16 track cassette tape only given out 2 close friends & associates in my Pasadena, Ca. neighborhood, without any intentions of getting a 'record deal' or any of the sort. I was just doing what I love: Music.

At this time in my life I was very young in the mind (via the 'immature use' of the 'N' word, in 'some' of these tracks & a word I NEVER will use in 'my own personal music' ever again), yet musically advanced amongst my peers. This 'limited time only' FREE DOWNLOAD is a snapshot in time, in relation 2 my story & origins within this music game.
*Thanx for your interest & giving this era of my music output some ear time.

Selections in order:

1. KDGR Dj announcement
2. Satisfaction
3. L.A. Ride
4. I Know What'z On Your Mind
5. Conversation 2/ Hood Shouts
6. It's Only U (Feat. Suzanne on demo vocals)
7. Tranquility
8. Outro

Running time: 24:00

Peace.

*All production, instruments, vocals, recording & music by: DāM-FunK (except vocals on "It's Only U" by Suzanne)

[Special thanx 2: Peanut Butter Wolf for pulling me up out of obscurity, at the correct time. Big love]

Sascha Ring, as known as Apparat, has just delivery a new track from his forthcoming LP and has made it available for you all via Soundcloud. You can stream or download xit below. Like a white soul in the space.

Apparat's official statement:

hi,

i made a record and i'm quite proud of it. It's the first record ever that didn't hurt at some point. It's full of imperfection because it was made by humans. I decided to not do a single interview, skip the promo marathon and make it available for you asap. This time YOU are the promo machine. Please share if you want to support what i'm doing.Krieg und Frieden is the theatre soundtrack i wrote last year. We went to the studio and made a bit of a weird record with not many beats and lots of drones. I hope you like it.
I'd like to thank Mäckie and Phillip and everyone who was involved! And i want to thank you for listening to my music for more then a decade! If you stay i'm not gonna leave either.
